Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the cash flow forecasting product currently offered as Stoke Money (the "Service"). "We", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of the Service. "Stoke Money" is the current product name and "VoidHQ" is the brand name under which it is published; both are subject to change, and references to the Service in these Terms apply regardless of the operating product or brand name. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Description of Service

The Service is a personal cash flow forecasting and financial management tool. It allows you to:

  • Connect bank and financial accounts through Plaid
  • View account balances, transactions, and investment holdings
  • Create and manage cash flow forecasts and recurring income/expense streams
  • Analyze loan and liability payment options

The Service is designed to help you visualize and plan your finances. It does not provide financial advice, investment recommendations, or tax guidance.

3. Accounts and Authentication

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and authentication credentials (passkeys/devices)
  • You must not share your account or allow others to access the Service through your account
  • You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms

4. Linked Financial Accounts

  • You connect financial institutions through Plaid, a third-party service. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's end user privacy policy
  • You authorize us to retrieve and store financial data from your linked institutions as described in our Privacy Policy
  • We access your financial data in read-only mode. We do not initiate transactions, transfers, or payments on your behalf
  • You may disconnect any linked institution at any time through the Service

5. User-Created Content

  • You retain ownership of all content you create in the Service (forecast streams, manual transactions, settings)
  • You grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the Service
  • This license terminates when you delete your account

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service without our permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
  • Use the Service to launder money or facilitate fraud

7. Subscriptions and Payments

  • The Service may offer free and paid subscription tiers
  • Paid subscriptions may start with a free trial (currently 30 days). A payment method is required to begin the trial, and the subscription converts to a paid subscription automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then
  • Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms of service
  • Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually as selected)
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
  • We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods
  • We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice

8. No Financial Advice

The Service is an informational tool only. Nothing in the Service constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Forecasts, projections, and analyses are estimates based on the data available and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for financial decisions. We are not a registered financial advisor, broker-dealer, or tax professional.

You are solely responsible for your financial decisions. We recommend consulting a qualified professional for financial advice.

9. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

10. Availability and Modifications

  • We strive to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control
  • We may modify, update, or discontinue features of the Service at any time
  • If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data

11. Intellectual Property

  • The Service, including its design, code, and branding (but excluding your content), is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws
  • "Stoke Money", "Stoke", "VoidHQ", and the flame logo are our trademarks
  • These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks or branding

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE
  • FINANCIAL DATA DISPLAYED WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT
  • FORECASTS OR PROJECTIONS WILL BE ACCURATE
  • THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

FINANCIAL DATA IS PROVIDED BY THIRD-PARTY INSTITUTIONS THROUGH PLAID AND MAY BE DELAYED, INACCURATE, OR INCOMPLETE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCURACY OF DATA PROVIDED BY YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR FINANCIAL LOSSES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

THIS LIMITATION APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY (CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE) AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law.

15. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time through the Service. Upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed as described in our Privacy Policy
  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with notice where practicable
  • Sections 8, 12, 13, 14, and 16 survive termination

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts located in California.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of the Service.
